She was born at Yate, Gloucestershire (31 July 1965), and her father was an aircraft engineer at Rolls Royce Industry. Joanne’s mother was a technician who handled the chemistry workshops at Wyedean Comprehensive.
Since childhood, Joanne has been interested in fantasy stories and at the age of 4, she wrote a few and narrated the same to her younger sister. She took her primary education from St. Michael’s School and her secondary education from Wyedean School. Joanne was good at studying and secured an A- in English; even her headmaster said that she was a bright student.
